The Little Bamboo Foundation Pre-School draws its students from amongst the poorest of Cebu's population. The residents of Pier 6 live in nothing more than a shanty town. Over the previous 18 months, Anne de Vesian, a young French woman, had developed a pre-school for these poorest of poor children. Starting with a simple learn-to in the shanty town, it has moved into a small but immaculate new building in the grounds of a nearby parish church. The children's physical appearance has metamorphosed from rags into real school uniforms kept spotless by diligent mums who live in appaling conditions.
