SPONSORSHIP OF A CHILD FROM ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL
Little Bamboo Foundation, Inc. and les Enfants du Mekong (Children of the Mekong River) offer a sponsorship program to help as many underprivileged children as possible go to school. This program allows us to monitor the performance of our students once they enter the public school system and evaluate the success of our kindergarten: many of our pupils are now the best students of their class in elementary school!
EDM selects those who can benefit from the program according to their own criteria. More than a hundred children from Little Bamboo can benefit from the EPM program and thus carry on their curriculum. The sponsorship money is used to buy uniforms, school supplies and other school necessities and sometimes books.
Two members of the Little Bamboo staff are responsible for the management of the sponsorship for these children and buy the school supplies. They not only meet with the families but also with the teachers to follow the results of our pupils.
The children are chosen after an interview where they specify their motivations. They sign a contract and agree:
to attend school regularly
to participate in the tutoring classes offered by Little Bamboo
and to do community service
(pick up trash in the slum for example)
